SkyFactor ("we", "us") builds a virtual airline operations platform for flight simulation. This policy explains what happens to personal data you give us, or that we collect when you use our desktop client, the operations dashboard, the stats site, or the backend API.
SkyFactor supports sign-in through Discord, Google, VATSIM and IVAO. Depending on the provider and what you authorise, we receive an identifier for your account (such as a Discord user ID, Google subject ID, VATSIM CID or IVAO VID), your email address, and your public display name. We never receive or store your password, and we never ask providers for access to private messages or friends lists.
While you use the pilot EFB with telemetry enabled, we receive flight data from your simulator: position (latitude/longitude), altitude, ground speed, heading, and your active flight plan identifiers. This is the data shown on the live fleet map and company operations views.
Filed flight plans, dispatch briefings, and ATC session activity you create are stored to your account so they persist across sessions.
We keep basic request logs (IP address, user agent, timestamps) to operate and protect the service, and use local storage in your browser to remember your sign-in session and display preferences.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use it for advertising.
Account and flight data is stored on our cloud backend (hosted on Render) in an SQLite database. Browser sessions are stored locally on your device. Your simulator telemetry is transmitted to our servers over HTTPS.
SkyFactor integrates with third parties whose own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them:
Public network data (such as VATSIM's live JSON feed) is fetched by our backend and may be cached; this data is published by those networks for public use.
We keep account data while your account is active. Telemetry and flight records are retained for operational history (for example, fleet and stats views). You can request deletion at any time (see section 7), and we will remove the data we hold about you unless we are required to keep it by law.
Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR or similar laws), you may have the right to:
To exercise any of these, contact us at the address in section 9. We will respond within a reasonable time.
SkyFactor is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Questions about this policy can be sent via the contact page. For the avoidance of doubt, SkyFactor is a virtual, non-commercial flight-simulation project and is not affiliated with any real airline, aviation authority, or the flight-simulator software vendors whose products it integrates with.
We may update this policy as the service evolves. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be highlighted in the client and on this page.
